Alison lives somewhere unknown, leading a monotonous life confined to a temporary dwelling. She is allowed to leave home once a week to buy essential groceries. Struggling with the restrictions, her only pastime is cooking and taking notes. As events unfold, it becomes evident that she is under constant surveillance. Alison is accused of inciting her university peers, leading to her temporary detention by the authorities to force her to confess what they want at the right time. Unwilling to admit guilt, she discovers a means to preserve her integrity by taking matters into her own hands.

  • Sara Masinaei is an actress, writer, and artist based in the UAE. She made her acting debut with the lead role in the feature film Alison (2024), directed by Nader Bagherpoor. Her performance in the film was critically acclaimed for its depth and authenticity, marking her as a rising star in the industry.

    Sara stars as the lead in the highly anticipated film Without Milk, Without Sugar (2024), directed by Mehrdad Naghibirad. In this upcoming release, she showcases her versatility by playing both a man and a woman character. She also plays Kajal in the short film Braid, set to be released this winter (2024).

    She has a solid foundation in theatre and holds a Master of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins, London.


  • Nader Bagherpoor was born on November 14, 1966, to an Iranian family on a diplomatic mission from the Imperial Government of Iran in Baghdad. The family later moved to the UAE, where he spent his childhood. Nader has lived there ever since.

    Nader began writing stories and creating short films at a young age, making several Super 8 films while in school.

    He later collaborated with various film productions before establishing his own film studio in 1993. Over the years, while creating industrial, commercial, and educational videos, Nader has made three short films that were critically acclaimed, winning first and second prizes at the Abu Dhabi Cultural Foundation Youth Festival. In 2000, he produced the TV movie Don Juan of Karaj, based on a short story by prominent Iranian author Sadegh Hedayat. The film had several private screenings and was well-received.

    Nader continues to write screenplays. In 2023, he completed the screenplay for Alison and began creating the feature film that same year. Alison is the latest film directed by Nader Bagherpoor.
